Collecting Data on A First-Grader!

By using scientific investigation skills, students will become aware and understand the many responsibilities of a first-grader.

Objective

The learners will collect information on first grade responsibilities by interviewing their peers and entering the data on a chart. 

Activity

The teacher will give the students the provided “Responsibilities of a First-Grader Data Collection Chart.” (click to download)
The students will interview three to four members of their first grade classroom and ask them two questions:

• “What makes a responsible first-grader?”
  
• “What are some responsibilities you have taken on this new school year?”

Extension

Make the data sheets into a class bulletin board to help students remember their first grade responsibilities.
