Kindhearted Kids

For Ages:  7-9
Program Length:  5 one hour lessons
Setting:  For schools and youth settings

Incorporating the adoption of a stuffed dog or cat as a catalyst to teach the core values of Kindness, Respect, Responsibility, and Empathy, immediately sparks children's attention as they're captivated by their pet, and character instruction easily follows to take root into the hearts of children. Five, teacher-friendly lessons and the inclusion of all necessary materials, as well as woven strands of reading, math, and writing into each lesson, makes this an easy, yet robust program for anyone to deliver.

What to Expect

Kindhearted Kids is a five week (one hour per week) primary aged program in schools. However, its success in growing character in children has led to expansion for all child care environments, such as after-school programs, summer camps, etc.
Throughout a five week (or five day) simulation, students care for a stuffed dog or cat. After each lesson, which is full of activities designed to support children in defining, recognizing and applying each core value, the children transport their pets from their educational setting to home in an adoption pet carrier, documenting and reflecting upon daily experiences with their pet in the Kindhearted Kids Pet Journal. During the program, children learn to make good decisions for people, animals, and the environment through the introduction of the Golden Rule: Treat all living things the way you want to be treated.

The Two by Two Kindhearted Kids Program is so much more than a cute program about pets. The way this program weaves character education into highly motivating lessons is masterful.
