Greeting Objective

The learners will become aware of their growing responsibilities.

Directions

  • Gather children in a circle on the floor.
  • Explain that we will be celebrating our growth in becoming more responsible by sharing something that we are now responsible for.
  • Be sure to invite Zonta to the circle to hear about these responsible actions.

USE THE FOLLOWING FORMAT:

Marta: “Hello, my name is Marta, and I have taken responsibility for making sure our pets at home have water every day.”

Class (and Zonta): “Way to be responsible, Marta!”

  • Continue in this way until all have been greeted.

Celebrate Responsibility!

Engagement Objective

The learners will take time to celebrate the growth of understanding and recognizing responsible actions.

Directions

  • Gather children to stand in a circle and let them loop their arms around each other’s shoulders.
  • Sing “I’ve Been Working on Responsibility”.
  • Have a small treat to share in a basket. Pass the basket around the circle and as each child takes a treat, flash them a letter (in order) from the word, Responsibility, and ask them to come up with a word or phrase that shows responsibility and starts with that letter (Example: R is for running to see if someone needs help).
  • Continue around the circle, using the letters from the word, Responsibility, until everyone has a turn.
