Weekly Tips and Reflections from the Two by Two Staff

Nov. 18 2019

Today I had an interaction at the grocery store that really gave me pause. Someone at the cash register said that I had pretty eyes. What I realized is that I never look very closely at the people waiting on me and I wouldn’t even know what color eyes they had. I always say “thank you”, and “have a nice day”, but do I really SEE people who are serving me? Giving someone eye contact makes them feel like they are really being “seen” and allows that little thrill of connecting with humanity to flow through your veins. Tomorrow, I’m going to challenge myself to really look at people serving me … in the grocery store, in a restaurant … at a bank … and take a moment to really see them and let them know that I appreciate what they are doing for me.
