A Recipe for a Respectful First-Grader

Writing

A delicious meal is made up of good ingredients. A delightful first-grader is made up of respectful qualities.

Objective

The learners will:

  • identify the qualities of a respectful first-grader.
  • write and illustrate a recipe for respect.

Activity

To begin the activity, discuss the many ways a first-grader can be a respectful member of their classroom. Explain to the class that they are going to make a delicious recipe that is full of “respectful ingredients” for a first-grader. Next, review the four components of a recipe:

  • Title
  • Ingredients
  • Directions
  • Serves
